This week on Armed Lutheran Radio we learn about the word “Marcionism,” a 2nd Century gnostic heresy taught by Marcion of Sinope. Marcion suggested that the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament are different gods. One is violent and cruel, the other loving and forgiving. That heresy survives today at Clackamass United Church of Christ where Rev. Adam Erickson hates the story of Noah and the flood because the “God character” in that story is nothing like Jesus.

Jul 1, 2018

In March of 2018, progressive clergy held an interfaith press conference held at Augustana Lutheran Church in Portland, Oregon, led by Augustana's pastor, Mark Knutsen. Knutsen describes Augustana as a holy place where "justice and peace kiss." That press conference launched the the "Lift Every Voice" campaign to gather signatures to get an "assault weapons" ban on the November ballot. In another feature-length segment of Clinging to God & Guns, Lloyd and Pastor Bennett analyze the incoherent ramblings from that conference and unmask the opportunism, fear-mongering and ignorance behind the campaign.
