Going back to the pre-podcast days to share a blog post from 2015 honoring the memories of those who died in service to our great nation.

May 28, 2017

Today we discuss the topic of suicide following the tragic death of Bob Owens. Sgt. Bill shares his thoughts in a non-Ballistic Minute, Mia Anstine talks about prevention how to recognize the warning signs, and we talk about the Christian view of depression and suicide in Clinging to God & Guns with Pastor Bennett.

Ballistic Minute with Sergeant Bill - In a non-Ballistic Minute, Sgt. Bill shares his thoughts and experiences with suicide, including the death of his best friend, and urges listeners to seek help because suicide is not the solution.

Mia's Motivations with Mia Anstine - Mia discusses suicide prevention and the warning signs that may identify people at risk.

Clinging to God and Guns  - Lloyd and Pastor John Bennett discuss the Christian view and response to depression and suicide. Pastor Bennett shares his personal struggles, we discuss Pr. Todd Peppercorn's book "I Trust When Dark My Road," and answer some common questions and misconceptions about suicide, sin, and God's grace in our darkest hours.

Prayer of the Week - Lord, with our anxious cares and troubles we come to You, trusting in Your Word and believing in Your promises. All of us, some more than others, have been greatly upset by the worries, fears, and doubts of the day. Be our Strength and Refuge so we may find peace of mind and healing body. Uphold us with Your almighty arm. We are not worthy of Your love and mercy, for we have sinned and often done evil in Your sight. Blot out all our transgressions through Christ’s precious blood. Fill our souls with peace. Give us the grace to put all our trust in You. Let Your healing hand rest upon us day after day. Enable us by Your grace to rise above all our suffering to praise You, whose will is wiser than our own. Keep us in Your saving grace, and abide with us all the days of our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

This week on Armed Lutheran Radio we are joined by Marcus Weldon, the “Santa Shooter,” to talk about his self-defense shooting, the legal nightmare that followed, and his new book “The Santa Shooter: Guilty Until Proven Innocent.” Plus a tip from Sgt. Bill and thoughts on the Eighth Commandment, or “justice” system and the fight for our rights.

Ballistic Minute with Sergeant Bill
Sgt. Bill gives you thoughts about an annoying cliche about being fast and smooth.

Special Guest: Marcus Weldon
After a long night working at a Christmas party, still wearing a Santa suit, he had an encounter with two men at a gas station that changed his life completely. After being shot at by two men, Marcus was forced to use deadly force in self-defense, and even though he was legally licensed to carry a gun, he was treated like a criminal and called “The Santa Shooter.”

It's a special Mothers Day edition of Armed Lutheran Radio. Lloyd, Aaron, Mia, and Pastor Bennett pay tribute to our moms, plus a couple of surprises, and Rhonda Ezell of Chicago Guns Matter joins us to talk about the legal battles that bear her name in the fight to expand gun rights in the Windy City.

Special Guest: Rhonda Ezell

Rhonda Ezell is the lead plaintiff in a pair of successful lawsuits (Ezell v. Chicago and Ezell v. Chicago II) against the City of Chicago, overturning the city's ban on public shooting ranges and the zoning restrictions that made building a range in the city impossible.

Prayer of the Week
Our merciful Father, the God who alone make minds of the faithful to be of one will, cause Your people to love what You command and to desire what You promise, that among the manifold changes of this world our hearts may be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

This week on Armed Lutheran Radio, Sgt. Bill is back!  Aaron shares a lesson learned from a recent good-guy-with-a-gun incident in Texas, Mia reports from the Shoot Like a Girl trailer at NRAAM, and Pastor Bennett is out sick so Lloyd is flying solo on Clinging to God & Guns, taking apart an article that suggests that Jesus would have some choice words for the NRA.

Ballistic Minute with Sergeant Bill
Sgt. Bill is back from his win at the Silver Dollar to talk about the oft-heard phrase “Fast is fine, but accuracy is final.”

Aaron Israel of Fundamental Defense
Last week in a restaurant in Arlington, Texas a good guy with a gun stopped a badguy with a gun. Aaron shares his thoughts on this story.

Mia's Motivations with Mia Anstine
Mia is hanging out with Christie Crawford from Shoot Like a Girl at the NRA Annual Meetings.

Clinging to God and Guns
With Pastor Bennett out sick, Lloyd is going solo taking on an article from Red Letter Christians that completely misuses numerous Bible verses to suggest that Jesus would not be too happy with the NRA.

Prayer of the Week
Almighty and everlasting God, the heavenly Father who shows the light of truth to those who are in error so that they may return into the way of righteousness, cause all who are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's Church to avoid those things that are contrary to their profession and to follow all such things that are agreeable thereto; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
